When I was first diagnosed with Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis I was really scared. First we went to meet an orthopedic surgeon to see what we could do about my back. After he showed us my x-rays he talked to us about scheduling the surgery right away, which scared me even more! My parents said that they wanted to see what else we could do first and leave surgery as a last resort.
Then one day my Dad was on the computer doing research about different bracing treatments and showed me a video of a girl my age wearing the SpineCor brace. It looked more comfortable and easier to wear than the hard braces we had seen online. A few days later he showed me another video of a girl a few years older then me wearing the SpineCor brace only she was doing gymnastics in it. That made me feel like I could do almost anything in it!

We found out about Pivonka Chiropractic and came in to get the details about the brace and treatment. We decided to try the Spinecor Brace and came in for my fitting. The Pivonka’s were really patient with me and took a lot of time to make sure that it fit me well and that I could put it on myself be for I left. It was nice to know that I wasn’t going to get home and feel like I didn’t know what to do.
It is uncomfortable sometimes but I know it’s helping my back and it is worth it in the long run. When I’m with my friends, some can’t even tell I have it on so that makes me feel less self-conscious about it. When I spend the night with my friends and they see my brace they think it looks cool and are really supportive. I like that I can do all my normal activities in my brace except swimming and showering. I get four hours a day out of it, so that’s not a problem.
I am really glad we are using the SpineCor Brace. I feel like it is really helping. I like coming in for my appointments because Dr. Andy and Dr. Patty are really fun and caring.
